Our Space helps couples strengthen relationships with AI-powered tools for emotional and practical support
Norik Melkonyan, founder of Our Space, has combined his passion for technology and human relationships to create a revolutionary platform designed to help couples build stronger, healthier relationships. Based in Yerevan, Armenia, Norik’s journey into entrepreneurship began from his personal experiences and insights into the challenges of maintaining a healthy relationship, especially in a fast-paced, modern world.
Inspired by his own relationship struggles, Norik saw the potential to use technology to solve these common problems. He discussed the idea with friends and other couples, identifying key pain points and exploring solutions. This led him to collaborate with a seasoned developer who became the co-founder and CTO of Our Space. Together with a designer and Android developer, they set out to create an app that acts as a relationship assistant.
"I wanted to help couples navigate the challenges of modern life by giving them a tool that could make their relationships stronger, more organized, and more fulfilling," Norik explains.
Our Space addresses multiple aspects of a relationship, from communication and emotional well-being to practical household management. The platform helps couples schedule dates, plan activities, and stay connected through shared journals, goal-setting tools, and personalized check-ins. Additionally, the app provides expert advice, quizzes, and articles to help couples grow and learn together.
"We wanted to create a space where couples could manage both the emotional and practical aspects of their lives, reducing stress and improving their overall well-being," Norik says. "The app helps couples focus on what matters most — each other."
Before launching the full version of Our Space, Norik and his team conducted thorough market research, including competitor analysis, industry trends, and in-depth interviews with potential users. By creating an MVP (Minimal Viable Product) and testing it with a limited user base, they were able to gather valuable feedback to refine their product.
"Analyzing user data was essential for us," Norik recalls. "We wanted to make sure that the app truly addressed the needs of real couples, and the positive feedback from our test users gave us the confidence to move forward."
What sets Our Space apart from other relationship apps is its use of AI-powered insights. The platform uses data to provide personalized recommendations and insights tailored to each couple’s needs and preferences. By analyzing user behavior, the app suggests activities, date ideas, or even relationship tips that help improve the connection between partners.
"This level of personalization allows couples to get exactly what they need from the app without having to search through multiple platforms or tools," Norik explains.
While Our Space currently focuses on helping couples, Norik has a bigger vision for the future. He plans to expand the app to include features that support families, including children and parents. "We want to build a platform that not only helps couples but also helps families manage their lives together," he says.
In an era where mental health and relationship well-being are gaining significant attention, Our Space is positioned to capitalize on these trends by offering features that cater to emotional health. Guided meditations, stress management tools, and relationship counseling resources are some of the features that Norik plans to introduce to meet this growing demand.
The global market for relationship apps is substantial, with TAM (Total Addressable Market) estimated at $1.5 billion. The potential is there, and Norik believes that Our Space will stand out by offering a broader range of features, including family-friendly tools, household management, and financial planning. These additions will differentiate the platform from competitors like Paired and Between.
Our Space operates on a freemium model, allowing users to download the app for free, with the option to purchase premium features through a subscription model. Currently, the app has over 2,100 downloads and 54 active couples. To scale further, Norik is seeking investment to improve marketing efforts and enhance the platform based on user feedback.
"We’ve invested $85,000 of our own money so far, and now we’re looking to raise $110,000 to help us grow our user base and continue improving the product," Norik shares.
Building a startup is never easy, and Norik has faced his fair share of challenges, from traction issues to a lack of resources. One significant setback occurred during his pitch at the Sevan Startup Summit, where he failed to communicate the full potential of the product.
"It was a tough experience, but I learned a lot from it," he reflects. "Failure is part of the journey, and it has only made me more determined to succeed."
Despite these challenges, Norik remains optimistic about the future. He emphasizes the importance of staying adaptable and continuously learning from mistakes. "Everything is new, and we’ve faced a lot of challenges, but that’s what startups are all about — learning and growing."
The culture at Our Space is centered around innovation, creativity, and a passion for helping couples thrive. Norik fosters an environment where employees are encouraged to think outside the box and experiment with new ideas. "We celebrate learning opportunities from mistakes," he says. "It’s about creating a safe space where everyone can contribute and feel part of the mission."
As Norik looks ahead, he envisions Our Space as a key player in the future of relationship management. He expects to see more advanced AI algorithms that provide even more personalized insights, as well as new features like wearable device integration and gamification elements to make the app even more engaging.
"Our ultimate goal is to be the platform that couples turn to for all aspects of their relationship, from the emotional side to managing daily tasks," Norik explains. "We want to be at the forefront of innovation in this space."
For those looking to follow in his footsteps, Norik offers some advice: "Learn as much as you can and embrace failure as part of the process. It’s important to keep pushing forward, even when things get tough."
With Our Space, Norik Melkonyan is not only helping couples navigate the complexities of modern relationships but also creating a platform that has the potential to transform how families and partners connect, communicate, and grow together.
